There are a key differences and this article will provide more information . In summary:
-therapy is open-ended and there is no set time or goals while coaching is for a set period of time with defined goals to be attained.
-therapy is usually regarding issues that have been brewing and are interpersonal regarding family relationships, romantic and intimacy issues, anxiety, depression and understanding self -sabotaging behaviors and patterns.
-in both coaching and therapy all information is confidential
Psychotherapy and psychoanalytic sessions are 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples. For coaching, the session is determined by the goals of the client.
Most insurance companies do not cover coaching but check with your provider or employer if they have benefits that will cover this type of work. Many companies will help subsidize coaching or offer it as a benefit.
If you are uncertain what type of work you would like to do, we can discuss what you want to work on and I can help determine which of my services would be of most help. It may take 2-3 sessions to determine and these sessions will be considered consolations and can be billed to insurance.
